Who You’ll Attract
Robins, wrens, tits, sparrows, dunnocks, wagtails, thrushes and blackbirds. They’re a great way to encourage birds that might not be interested in seed alone.

How to Feed Them

  • Serve in a shallow dish or live-food tray with smooth sides.
  • Place near shrubs or hedges to make birds feel secure.
  • Feed little and often, especially in early morning and late afternoon.

Best Served In
✅ A live-food tray or low table.
✅ Mixed with standard mealworms for size variety.
🚫 Avoid deep seed tubes (mealworms need airflow).

Wiggly Tip:
Pop a handful of minis in your live-mealworm dish to attract robins and wrens first – once they arrive, the rest will follow!

All our live mealworms – minis included – are bagged fresh to order right here on our regenerative farm in Herefordshire.
They’re carefully raised on a clean vegetarian feed, which means they’re safe, natural and disease-free – no meat or animal by-products in sight.

Sustainability & Packaging

  • Compostable paper bags instead of plastic tubs.
  • Minimal, protective packaging to keep them fresh in transit.
  • Hand-weighed and shipped quickly to reduce stress on the worms.

Wiggly Tip:
Decant them into a shallow reusable container (like an ice-cream tub) with a few pinholes for air and a sprinkle of bran or porridge oats. Add a slice of carrot for moisture, and they’ll keep wriggling for days.

Live foods like mealworms help birds stay hydrated and healthy, especially during nesting, moulting, and cold snaps when insects are scarce.
The natural movement encourages wild foraging behaviour and reduces stress for chicks and adults alike.

Mini mealworms add variety and accessibility for smaller birds, while giving you a clean, easy way to feed live food with confidence – no smell, no mess, and no disease risk.

Wiggly Tip:
Keep a bag of Dried Mealworms for backup and add a few Live Waxworms now and then for a rich, high-energy treat.

Storage & Freshness

  • Store in a cool, dry place (8–10 °C).
  • Use a shallow, ventilated container with bran or oats.
  • Add a slice of carrot or apple for moisture – replace every few days.
  • Feed within a week for best quality and wriggle.

Wiggly Tip:
Don’t over-stock – it’s far better to Subscribe & Save for smaller, fresher deliveries than try to store too many for too long.

Goes Well With

  • Live Mealworms – the everyday live feed staple.
  • Live Waxworms – soft, high-fat energy boost.
  • Softbill Mix – seed blend that pairs perfectly with live food.
  • Dried Mealworms – ideal emergency backup or mixing option.

Quick FAQs
Are mini mealworms safer than wild insects?
Yes – they’re vegetarian-fed and disease-free, unlike wild invertebrates which can carry bacteria.
Do they smell?
No – if kept cool and dry, they’re virtually odour-free.
Can I use them for hens?
Yes – DEFRA-approved and brilliant for variety and enrichment.
Can fledglings eat them?
Yes – fledglings can handle both mini and standard sizes, so feed whichever suits your birds.

The Wiggly Story: Bringing Your Garden to Life.

Nestled in the heart of rural Herefordshire, within The Duchy of Cornwall estate lies Lower Blakemere Farm – the cherished home of Wiggly Wigglers and founder, Heather Gorringe. From its humble beginnings on Heather’s kitchen table over 30 years ago, our small but dedicated team is working hard on a legacy of sustainability and regeneration. Our farm isn’t merely a plot of land; it’s a dynamic hub where we’re aiming to balance food production with biodiversity and since we started our regenerative journey there’s a real focus on improving soil health and sustainability. Beyond our own endeavours, we’re passionate about sharing best practices and developing products designed to Bring your Garden to life.

What our customers say

Brilliant live worms and great service! I ordered a batch of live composting worms for my new wormery, and they arrived in perfect condition — lively, healthy, and ready to get to work straight away. The packaging was eco-friendly, and the team even included a little guide on how to settle them in. My kitchen scraps are disappearing fast, and I’ve already started harvesting my first bit of worm compost. Couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic bokashi composting advice As a complete beginner to bokashi composting, I really appreciated how helpful the team were. They answered all my questions quickly and gave me simple, clear instructions to get started. The bokashi bran is top quality and smells fresh and pleasant. After just a few weeks, I’ve turned my kitchen waste into brilliant compost-ready material with no odour or mess. Highly recommended!

Top-notch British birdseed mix The British birdseed from Wigglys is superb. It attracts a lovely variety of garden birds — robins, finches, and even a pair of goldfinches have started visiting regularly. You can tell it’s a quality mix with no fillers or dust. Delivery was quick, and everything was packaged sustainably. It’s become my go-to source for bird feed!
