Product Overview:

Complete Rot is a proven, eco-friendly solution designed to solve the challenges of composting grass clippings. Its unique formulation accelerates decomposition by balancing the nitrogen content in fresh clippings, ensuring they break down cleanly and efficiently.

Perfect for gardeners and farmers alike, Complete Rot helps transform lawn waste into nutrient-packed compost that supports plant growth, reduces waste, and improves soil health – all while keeping your compost pile manageable and odour-free.

Why Choose Complete Rot?

  • Prevents Slimy Grass Piles: Fresh grass clippings are high in nitrogen, which can cause anaerobic decomposition, leading to a compact, slimy mess. Complete Rot balances nitrogen levels to promote clean, aerobic composting.

  • Speeds Up Composting: Grass clippings often take a long time to break down when left alone. Complete Rot accelerates this process, saving time and producing usable compost faster.

  • Improves Compost Quality: The resulting compost is dark, crumbly, and rich in nutrients, ideal for garden beds, lawns, and vegetable patches.

  • Eco-Friendly and Safe: Made from natural ingredients, it’s a safe choice for organic gardening.

How to Use Complete Rot:

  1. Collect Grass Clippings: After mowing, gather fresh clippings and add them to your compost bin or pile.

  2. Sprinkle Complete Rot: Evenly distribute the recommended amount over the grass clippings.

  3. Layer with Brown Materials: Add dried leaves, straw, or shredded cardboard to balance the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, essential for efficient composting.

  4. Turn and Aerate: Turn the pile regularly to introduce oxygen and maintain aerobic conditions, speeding up decomposition.

The Science of Grass Clipping Composting:

Grass clippings are naturally high in nitrogen but low in carbon, making them prone to anaerobic decomposition if left alone. This process leads to the production of methane and ammonia, causing foul odours and slimy texture. Complete Rot counteracts this by introducing microbial activators that promote aerobic decomposition.

Aerobic composting releases carbon dioxide instead of methane, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The balanced mix of nitrogen and carbon creates ideal conditions for microbes to break down organic material into humus – the dark, nutrient-rich matter that enhances soil fertility.

Why Composting Grass Clippings Matters:

  • Reduces Waste: Diverts clippings from landfills, where they contribute to harmful methane emissions.

  • Improves Soil: Adds organic matter to soil, enhancing texture, water retention, and fertility.

  • Supports Sustainable Gardening: Recycles natural waste into a valuable resource, reducing reliance on chemical fertilisers.

  • Encourages Healthy Plant Growth: Provides plants with essential nutrients for robust and vibrant growth.

About Our Farm:

At Lower Blakemere Farm, home of Wiggly Wigglers, we’re committed to sustainable, regenerative farming that works in harmony with nature. Nestled in the heart of Herefordshire, we run a mixed family farm combining beef cattle and arable crops grown for seed production.

Our approach prioritises soil health and resource efficiency. For instance, while the cattle are in the cowsheds, we pre-compost their manure by allowing them to trample it down, creating a rich, well-aerated compost. This compost is then used to nourish our fields, growing crops that close the loop on our farm’s system.

Our cattle are fed in the winter with grass seed straw, a by-product of our commercial grass seed production, and a barley ration that we grow and combine ourselves. This ensures nothing goes to waste and the cattle are nourished with homegrown feed.

Everything we do, from composting organic materials to fostering biodiversity, supports our mission: to create a farming system that nurtures the environment and ensures its viability for future generations.

Every bag of Complete Rot you purchase helps support a British family farm dedicated to eco-friendly practices and aiming to make a difference for the planet.

Wiggly Tips for Successful Grass Composting:

  • Layer It Right: Alternate layers of grass clippings with carbon-rich materials like straw or dried leaves to maintain a balanced compost pile.

  • Keep It Aerated: Turn the compost pile every week to introduce oxygen and promote aerobic decomposition.

  • Monitor Moisture Levels: Grass clippings can be wet – if your pile feels soggy, add more dry, carbon-rich materials.

  • Use in Moderation: Too many grass clippings at once can overwhelm your compost pile. Add in smaller batches if needed.

Customer Reviews:

  • "I used to struggle with slimy grass piles, but not anymore. Complete Rot is easy to use and makes a huge difference to my composting." – John W.
