Healthy worms need balanced soil — not acid baths!
Our Wiggly Lime Mix is the essential natural buffer for any wormery or composting system.
A small handful every couple of weeks neutralises acidity, keeps odours under control, and creates the perfect environment for composting worms to thrive.

Formulated from finely ground limestone and natural grit, this mix stabilises pH, prevents pests, and supports digestion — making it a must-have companion for your Bokashi bins, worm farms, and compost heaps.

Key Benefits

⚖️ Neutralises Acidity: Restores balance when kitchen scraps like citrus, tomatoes, and coffee lower pH.
🌿 Eliminates Odours: Keeps your wormery smelling earthy and clean instead of sour.
🐛 Boosts Worm Health: Added grit aids digestion, helping worms process organic waste faster.
🚫 Discourages Pests: Balanced pH deters white worms, fruit flies, and mites.
💧 Manages Moisture: Slightly drying — perfect for soggy wormeries or anaerobic composts.
♻️ Easy & Economical: Just a sprinkle every 1–2 weeks maintains stable conditions.

  • Add a small handful (1–2 tablespoons) every 1–2 weeks to your wormery surface.
  • Sprinkle evenly across fresh waste, then replace your Wiggly Moisture Mat.
  • For larger compost heaps, use roughly 100g per 10 litres of waste.
  • Avoid overuse — balance is key, not alkalinity.

Wiggly Tip:
If your wormery smells sour or you see white worms clustering, add a handful immediately and fluff the surface layer for airflow.

At Lower Blakemere Farm in Herefordshire, we rely on balanced compost for healthy soil.
Every heap, wormery, and Bokashi batch gets a sprinkle of our Lime Mix to keep microbes and worms working at their best.
Our mix supports the regenerative loop — waste into compost, compost into soil, soil into crops.

When you use Wiggly Lime Mix, you’re following the same natural principles that keep our farm’s ecosystem thriving.

🐛 Worm Comfort Zone: Worms thrive in neutral conditions (pH 6.5–7.5). Acidic environments can burn their skin and slow reproduction.
🌿 Microbial Health: Beneficial bacteria collapse when pH drops too low — leading to odours and slime.
💧 Moisture Control: Lime’s gentle drying action prevents soggy layers that turn anaerobic.
⚖️ Balanced Ecosystem: Regular lime keeps worms, microbes, and fungi in harmony — speeding up composting naturally.

✅ Combine Lime Mix with Wiggly Rock Dust monthly for a full mineral boost.
✅ If you feed a lot of fruit or coffee, increase lime frequency slightly.
✅ Crush and add eggshells for extra grit and calcium.
✅ Store in a cool, dry place and seal tightly between uses.

Wiggly Tip:
If your compost smells sour, looks slimy, or feels sticky — don’t panic! Add Lime Mix, fluff the top layer, and cover with your moisture mat. Within days it’ll be back to sweet, earthy balance.

FAQs

Q: Can I use Lime Mix with Bokashi composting?
A: Yes, but sparingly. Bokashi is naturally acidic, so wait until it’s added to your compost heap or soil before balancing with Lime Mix.

Q: Will this harm my worms if I add too much?
A: No, as long as you use light, regular doses. It’s safe and gentle — but moderation keeps pH steady.

Q: How can I tell if my wormery is too acidic?
A: Signs include sour smell, clusters of white worms, or sluggish activity. Add Lime Mix and check back after 2–3 days.

What our customers say

Brilliant live worms and great service! I ordered a batch of live composting worms for my new wormery, and they arrived in perfect condition — lively, healthy, and ready to get to work straight away. The packaging was eco-friendly, and the team even included a little guide on how to settle them in. My kitchen scraps are disappearing fast, and I’ve already started harvesting my first bit of worm compost. Couldn’t be happier!

They answered all my questions quickly and gave me simple, clear instructions to get started. The bokashi bran is top quality and smells fresh and pleasant. After just a few weeks, I’ve turned my kitchen waste into brilliant compost-ready material with no odour or mess. Highly recommended!

Top-notch British birdseed mix The British birdseed from Wigglys is superb. It attracts a lovely variety of garden birds — robins, finches, and even a pair of goldfinches have started visiting regularly. You can tell it’s a quality mix with no fillers or dust. Delivery was quick, and everything was packaged sustainably. It’s become my go-to source for bird feed!
