Why Choose The One Feeder for Niger Seed?

The One Feeder has been thoughtfully designed to make feeding your garden birds a breeze. Its tailored feeding ports cater specifically to goldfinches, enabling these beautiful birds to feed comfortably. Unlike other feeders, The One Feeder prioritises ease of use and cleanliness. With a quick twist, the base removes to let any uneaten husks or seeds escape, and a simple pin mechanism allows for a complete clean with no tools required.

Available in three convenient sizes to suit your garden's needs:

  • Small: 0.5 litre, 2 ports, 180mm tube height

  • Medium: 1 litre, 4 ports, 360mm tube height

  • Large: 1.5 litre, 6 ports, 540mm tube height

Goldfinches: Fascinating Facts About Your Garden Guests

  • Appearance: Goldfinches are easily recognised by their striking red faces, black-and-white heads, golden-yellow wing bars, and a brownish body. Their bright plumage makes them one of the most colourful visitors to British gardens.

  • Habitat: These birds prefer open areas with scattered trees and hedgerows. They are frequent visitors to gardens, parks, and orchards, especially where niger seed feeders are available.

  • Diet and Feeding Habits: Goldfinches primarily feed on seeds, particularly from thistles and teasels in the wild. During winter, garden feeders stocked with niger seeds are a vital food source.

  • Social Creatures: They are often seen in small flocks and are known for their cheerful, tinkling song. Providing a feeder can help sustain them year-round, supporting their population.

  • Importance to Ecosystems: By feeding on seeds, goldfinches help with natural plant propagation, contributing to a balanced ecosystem.

Tips for Feeding with Niger Seed:

  • Positioning: Place your feeder in a quiet, sheltered spot to attract goldfinches quickly.

  • Seed Freshness: Check niger seeds regularly to ensure they’re fresh. Old or damp seeds may deter birds.

  • Cleaning Routine: Clean the feeder regularly using warm soapy water or a specialist bird-safe cleaner to prevent mould and bacteria.
