What makes Wiggly Wigglers birdseed special? Decades of trusted relationships and attention to detail. Some ingredients are grown on our farm, others come from local farming partners, and the rest from a seed merchant with whom we’ve worked for over 30 years. Each order is bagged fresh: smaller sizes in plain paper bags, which are compostable, and 12.55kg sizes in reusable, recyclable woven polypropylene bags. This thoughtful approach ensures top quality, great value, and reduced waste.

    • Packed with high-energy seeds that birds can easily digest.
    • Plain paper bags simplify composting and reusing.
    • Larger sizes in polyprop save you time and money.

What's in Wiggly Seed Extra and Why Birds Love It

    This premium mix includes:

    • Small Striped and Black Sunflower Seeds: Packed with high oil content, these seeds provide a quick energy boost and essential fatty acids to keep birds active and warm.

    • Canary Seed: A protein-rich favourite of finches and sparrows, supporting muscle strength and feather health.

    • Hemp: Loaded with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for shiny feathers and healthy skin.

    • Buckwheat: An energy-dense grain that’s easy for birds to digest, perfect for keeping them fuelled.

    • Black Rape Seed: High in oils and nutrients, ideal for small seed-eating birds needing an extra energy boost.

    • Linseed: A natural source of essential fats and fibre, promoting overall health and vitality.

Every ingredient is carefully chosen to provide the perfect balance of protein, fat, and energy that birds need to thrive.

Where and How to Feed Wiggly Seed Extra

    • Use in a Standard Seed Feeder: Great for birds that love to perch while feeding, like blue tits, greenfinches, and goldfinches. Their small, sharp beaks are perfect for cracking seeds.

    • Scatter on a Bird Table or Ground: Perfect for ground feeders like blackbirds, robins, and sparrows, who prefer to forage at lower levels.

Position feeders near hedges or shrubs to provide cover and safety from predators, and keep feeding areas clean and stocked for regular visitors.

    Birds You'll Attract

With its rich mix of ingredients, Wiggly Seed Extra attracts a variety of species, including:

    • Perching Birds: Blue tits, great tits, greenfinches, chaffinches, and goldfinches.

    • Ground Feeders: Robins, blackbirds, sparrows, and dunnocks.

    • Occasional Visitors: Look out for bullfinches, nuthatches, or even long-tailed tits!

Q: What is the best way to offer seed mixes to garden birds? A: Use bird feeders with appropriate perches and feeding ports. Hanging feeders or tray feeders are common choices. Ensure they are kept clean to prevent the spread of diseases.

Q: Are all seed mixes the same, or do they cater to specific bird species? A: Seed mixes can vary, and some are formulated for specific types of birds. Look for mixes that suit the birds you want to attract, or choose a diverse mix that appeals to a broad range of species.

Q: When is the best time to feed seed mixes to garden birds? A: Seed mixes can be offered year-round. Providing them during winter is particularly beneficial, as birds require extra energy to stay warm.

Q: How often should I refill the bird feeder with seed mixes? A: Check the feeder regularly and refill it when it's empty or close to being empty. This ensures a continuous and reliable food source for the birds.

Q: Are there any safety considerations when feeding seed mixes to birds? A: Keep the seed mix dry to prevent mold growth. Clean the feeder regularly to maintain a hygienic feeding environment and reduce the risk of disease transmission.

Q: Can I mix different types of bird food with seed mixes? A: Yes, mixing in other bird-friendly foods like suet, nuts, or mealworms can provide a more diverse and nutritious diet for garden birds.

Q: How do I store seed mixes for long-term use? A: Store seed mixes in a cool, dry place to prevent spoilage. Check for any signs of mould or pests before refilling feeders.
