Why Layers Mash with Bokashi is Beneficial for Hens

Dry-mixed LIVE Bokashi is mixed with a top quality Layers Mash for feeding to domestic chickens and ducks (suitable for birds over the age of 17 weeks).

Incorporating LIVE Bokashi Bran into layers mash offers significant probiotic benefits. The main positive is the effect on the hens' gut health and the environment of the hen house. LIVE Bokashi Bran introduces effective microorganisms into the feed, which facilitate a healthier digestive process. These microorganisms not only help in breaking down the food more efficiently, allowing hens to absorb more nutrients but also contribute to a balanced gut flora. A healthy gut reduces incidences of diarrhea and other digestive disturbances.

The thing most people love is the benefit that Bokashi has the ability to reduce odours in the hen house. This is achieved through the efficient decomposition of organic matter in the hens' waste, which minimises the production of ammonia and other stinkiness. By reducing these smells, Bokashi creates a more pleasant and healthier environment for both the hens and the hen keeper. Less smells measn less stress among the hens, leading to better overall health and productivity. It’s worth saying that it’s well worth sprinkling some LIVE Bokashi Bran directly into the floor of your chicken house for extra impact.

How to Feed Layers Mash with Bokashi to Hens

Start Gradually: Introduce Bokashi-infused layers mash gradually into the diet of your hens. Begin by mixing about 10% of Bokashi mash with their regular feed and gradually increase the proportion over the course of a week.

Consistent Mixing: Ensure that the Bokashi is well mixed with the layers mash. This helps in evenly distributing the beneficial microbes throughout the feed, ensuring each hen receives a balanced intake.

Daily Feeding Routine: Feed your hens twice a day—morning and late afternoon. Replace the regular feed with the Bokashi mash mix according to the feeding schedule you established during the transition period.

Monitor Consumption: Observe how much the hens are eating to make sure they are consuming the Bokashi mash effectively. Adjust quantities as necessary to avoid overfeeding or underfeeding.

Maintain Freshness: Do not leave old feed in the feeder. Remove uneaten mash to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.

Hydration: Always provide ample fresh water as Bokashi can increase thirst due to its rich microbial content.
