Key Benefits:

  • The Fastest Natural Composters in the World: Capable of consuming up to half their body weight in organic matter daily, these worms rapidly break down your kitchen scraps and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost.
  • Adaptive Blend: Mixture of red worms (also called Tiger Worms) and dendrobaenas (red wigglers (Eisenia fetida and Eisenia hortensis) ensures peak performance in varied compost conditions.
  • Black Gold: Composting Worms convert waste into really nutrient-rich compost, boosting soil health and plant growth.
  • Low Maintenance: Your worms compost naturally in the wild and so can thrive in diverse environments with minimal care needed.
  • Green Living: Reduces landfill waste and cuts greenhouse gas emissions by composting all sorts of organic matter at home including kitchen waste, food waste, and garden waste.

Transform your household and garden waste into valuable compost with Wiggly Wigglers Composting Worms. This product harnesses the natural power of a diverse mix of worm species, predominantly red wigglers (Eisenia fetida) and dendrobaenas (Eisenia hortensis), known for their vigorous composting capabilities. Commonly referred to as tiger worms, brandlings, reds, and dendras, each species plays a crucial role in accelerating the decomposition process.

Each species included in our mix is a surface litter worm, which means they naturally inhabit the upper layers of soil, unlike common garden earthworms (lob worms - Lumbricus terrestris). Reds and dendras typically thrive in the top few inches of compost, making them ideal for your wormery. You’ll find these types naturally in environments like manure heaps or the forest floor.

Our composting worms are prolific in many ways—they breed quickly, maturing within just a few weeks, and can lay an egg approximately every 10 days. They are highly efficient at consuming and composting organic material, enhancing their breeding capability.

Please note: Our worms are sold by weight. We start our wormeries off with 500g so if you want just a boost of worms to add to your worm composter 250g is a good boost, to start a wormery off choose 500g and if you are adding worms to a larger garden composter we would suggest 1kg per m2. A 1kg purchase of composting worms will provide you with approximately 1600 to 2000 worms, ensuring a robust start for your composting efforts.

Scientifically Proven Efficiency: These composting worms are scientifically selected for their ability to adapt and thrive in varying acidity levels found in organic waste. This diversity ensures that no matter your compost's pH, these worms work continuously to break down materials into usable compost. In optimal conditions, these worms can consume up to half their body weight in organic waste daily, turning a substantial amount of kitchen scraps and garden debris into compost much faster than traditional composting methods.

Usage and Benefits:

Rapid Composting Cycle: By digesting waste quickly, these worms shorten the composting cycle, allowing you to enrich your soil more frequently with high-quality compost.

Nutrient-Rich Compost: The byproduct of their digestion is a supercharged compost that is rich in essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, vital for plant health and robust growth.

Sustainability: Using Wiggly Wigglers Composting Worms contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and lowering methane production, a potent greenhouse gas released during the breakdown of organic materials in landfills.

Ideal Settings: These worms are perfect for both indoor and outdoor composting setups, such as wormery systems and traditional compost bins. They are particularly effective in enclosed composters where their environment can be easily controlled, ensuring maximum productivity and minimal maintenance.

Getting Started: Begin your composting journey by introducing the worms into a bed of inert material such as coir or shredded paper. We offer Composting Worms with a Bedding Block (of Coir) as an easy solution to this. This initial bedding helps create the ideal environment for the worms to start processing your waste effectively. Worms work particularly well when you are adding a regular layer of waste.

Choose Wiggly Wigglers Composting Worms for a natural, efficient, and environmentally friendly way to manage your organic waste and enhance your gardening efforts.
